W&W 2025: Patek Philippe Calatrava 8 Days ref. 5328G-001
One of our favorite watches this season, and the dark horse associated with Watches & Wonders 2025, is the new Patek Philippe Calatrava 8 Days Reserve of power (Ref. 5328G-001). This view not only expands the Calatrava collection, but also adds an additional complication of pure beauty to the everyday watch. The brand new Calatrava features an immediate day and date screen in windows with a hands at 6 o'clock as well as an 8-day power reserve indication at 12 o'clock.
This timepiece is housed in a completely proportioned 18K white gold situation with a diameter of forty-one mm and a thickness of ten. 52 mm, and homes a new movement. The case functions Patek Philippe's signature guilloché pattern that wraps round the entire case.
The grainy blue dial features a spectacular textured blue dial having a black gradient edge, embellished with white gold numerals and also hour/minute hands with white-colored luminous coating.

A little running seconds hand is situated at 6 o'clock within the date and day subdials, which we think makes the style a little busy and a little bit confusing if you take a quick look at the date indication - even though seconds hand is smaller than the date indicator palm.
The Calatrava 8-Day ref. 5328G-001 comes with two compatible straps: one in blue calfskin with a fabric pattern along with cream stitching, and the some other in grained taupe calfskin. Both straps feature the actual newly patented three-piece foldable clasp, which provides both improved security and wearing comfort and ease while also allowing for fast, tool-free strap changes.
Motion
Flipping the watch over, you will see the new in-house 8-day manual movement, the 31-505 8J PS IRM CI J, which consists of 256 parts and beats in 28, 800 vph (4 Hz). This new movement flawlessly balances classic design with hi-tech innovation and features crucial technological advances, including the Pulsomax escapement with Silinvar get away wheel and lever, initially developed through the Patek Philippe Advanced Research Program.
The actual movement’s twin series-spring barrels ensure precise operation for any full eight days (192 hours), and a ninth “backup” date is displayed within red on an arched signal at 12 o’clock, reminding the wearer when it’s time for you to wind the watch. The day in addition to date display features a good instantaneous jump function at nighttime.
Imposing yet sophisticated around the wrist, the Calatrava eight Day Power Reserve is a reasonably sized watch with a size of 41mm and the famous spike pattern on the side of the watch case, striking the perfect balance among imposingness and comfort.
